ENJOY THE JOURNEY
the plan:
like i said, hiking around the entirety of geneva lake is 21 miles. i have been itching to do this journey all summer long. FINALLY i convinced two of my friends to go the distance with me. approximately, it takes 7-8hrs to get all the way around. instead of getting up at 5am like one friend suggested (i am NOT a morning person) we planned to start at 8:30.
why i don't make plans:
and once we got going...it was perfect. neither of my friends were quite shocked at my choice to go barefoot. let's just say i've picked good friends.
there are few places as beautiful as my lake. i loved every minute of our 7 1/2 hr trek.

it was dark when we finally made it back to our original destination. which meant we were privileged to watch the sunset as we walked. we scared the crane you can see flying over the water in the above picture by laughing too hard.
i could have snapped pics the entire walk but i promised myself to only pull out my phone for the absolutely best things. we also met several other couples and friend groups who were walking the entire path, which was cool. especially when we meet back up with one couple that was walking it in two legs in as many days. |
another things was added to my bucket list as we walked too, because we witnessed this couple parasailing together. so of course i HAVE to do that now too...
i think the next thing particularly on my list is going up in a hot air balloon. there is a company that does it not too far away from here!
and the end of the wrapped up perfectly with the supermoon lunar eclipse which i tragically do not have an adequate camera to capture...
we watched the moon slowly disappear and then showered and wolfed down a couple well earned juicy burgers!
just about the best weekend ever...
what did you do this weekend?
